Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Dumas Family Recipes (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you visit the Dumas Family Recipes website (the “Site”).
Information We Collect
You can use the Site without providing any information to us. If you choose to sign in to rate recipes, we collect the information described under “Accounts and Sign-In” and “Ratings” below. The other information described in this Privacy Policy is collected automatically when you visit the Site.
Accounts and Sign-In
Signing in is optional and is used only to rate recipes. You sign in with your Google account. When you do, your browser is sent to Google, which handles the sign-in under its own Privacy Policy, and then returns you to the Site.
We ask Google only for an identifier for your Google account. We do not request or receive your name, email address, or photo, and we do not keep the access credentials Google issues during sign-in. We store that identifier, the date your account was created, and a record of each active sign-in session, including when it expires.
Ratings
If you rate a recipe, we store your rating (one to five stars) for that recipe, linked to your account, together with when it was made or last changed. Ratings appear on the Site only as an average and a count for each recipe, never with any information about who gave them. You can change or remove a rating at any time.
Analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights, services provided by Vercel Inc., to collect information about how the Site is used and how it performs. We use this information to understand which content is viewed and to measure and improve the Site’s performance, and do not use it to identify individual visitors.
For details about the information these services collect and how Vercel processes it, see Vercel’s documentation for Web Analytics and Speed Insights.
Hosting and Storage
The Site is hosted by Vercel. When you visit the Site, Vercel’s servers receive information that your browser sends automatically with each request, such as your IP address, browser type, and the page requested. Vercel processes this information in accordance with the Vercel Privacy Notice.
Account, session, and rating information is stored in a database provided by Neon, which stores it on our behalf. See the Neon Privacy Policy.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
The Site sets cookies only if you sign in, and only two. One is set when you start signing in, is used to complete the sign-in securely, and is deleted when you return from Google or after ten minutes, whichever comes first. The other keeps you signed in; it expires 90 days after you last used it, or when you sign out. Both are strictly necessary for signing in, and neither is used for advertising or analytics.
How We Share Information
We do not sell or rent information about visitors. We do not share it with third parties except the service providers described in this Privacy Policy (Vercel, Google, and Neon), or where required by law.
Retention and Deletion
We keep your account and ratings until you delete your account. On the Account page you can see every rating your account holds, sign out of this browser or of every browser and device, and delete your account. Deleting your account removes it and its ratings from the Site immediately. Copies may remain in our database provider’s recovery history for a limited period, after which they are permanently removed.
Because we do not store your name or email address, we can identify your account only when you sign in to it, and deleting it from the Account page is the way to remove it. Google keeps its own record that you signed in to the Site, which you can remove from your Google account’s third-party connections.
Your Choices and Rights
You can use the Site without signing in. If you have an account, you can see, change, and delete the information we hold about it at any time from the Account page. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under data protection law, including the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Children’s Privacy
The Site is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
